Port Washington State Bank (PWSB) is proud to announce plans for a new, expanded Belgium branch, following approval from the Village of Belgium Plan Commission. The project represents a significant investment in the community and underscores the bank’s nearly century‑long commitment to serving Belgium and the surrounding rural areas.
The new branch, located at 115 S. Royal Avenue, will replace the existing 1,000‑square‑foot facility with a modern building totaling approximately 3,600 square feet. The expanded space will allow for improved customer amenities, enhanced accessibility, and additional room for personalized financial services.
“Belgium is a thriving community with a wide range of banking needs,” said James Schowalter, President and CEO of Port Washington State Bank. “This new branch allows us to deepen our investment here and better serve not only Belgium, but the neighboring small towns that rely on accessible, community‑focused banking. Making banking convenient and personal for everyone we serve is at the heart of who we are.”
Designed with both customers and employees in mind, the new facility will include expanded office space for lenders and personal bankers, private meeting areas, and three drive‑thru lanes with wider access. The design will closely mirror PWSB’s recently expanded Fredonia branch, providing a consistent, modern look and feel across locations.
Community partnership remains central to the project. The Village of Belgium issued the following remark on the expansion: “The Village of Belgium is excited to welcome the new Port Washington State Bank location. PWSB has been, and continues to be, an important and trusted partner in our community, and we’re grateful for their longstanding commitment to supporting Belgium’s residents, businesses, and future growth.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2026 and conclude in spring 2027. Customers can expect little to no disruption during the build, as the current Belgium branch will remain fully operational until the new facility is complete.
As Belgium continues to grow, Port Washington State Bank looks forward to serving the community from a space designed to meet evolving needs—while maintaining the personal, relationship‑driven service customers have trusted since 1932.
