Helping Ozaukee County Businesses Thrive

The Ozaukee County Business Loan Program offers low-cost loans for up to $50,000.00 at below market interest rates for up to a 10-year term. The purpose of these loans is to encourage new investment in your business and strengthen our communities by assisting with start-up and expansion costs.

Loans can be used for:

  • Redevelopment of blighted property and vacant facilities
  • Costs associated with environmental, safety, and/or building code compliance or development
  • Land or building purchases
  • Leasehold improvements (non-residential)

Rates are subject to change. To inquire about our current rates, please contact us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for this program?

To be eligible for the loan, the current or new business must be located inside Ozaukee County. The loans are subject to credit approval.

What if my improvement is more than $50,000.00?

The loan can be used as a primary loan or in conjunction with other loans and financing to aid in project completion.

For example, if a loan request for $80,000.00 was received, the first $50,000.00 may qualify for the program, and the balance would be subject to current finance rates. Each loan is evaluated separately on collateral, risk and terms.

What items do I need to supply with my application?

You will be asked for an itemized list of improvements for the loan amount and for the entire project. Additional details may be needed after our business team has had a chance to review the application.

I've received a community development loan from my town, village or city in the past. Do I still qualify for the program?

Yes. Port Washington State Bank’s program is available to repeat customers. As of April 30, 2019, there are no longer individual programs for towns, villages or cities. The program is now a singular, county-wide initiative.

Will my information be shared with the municipality in which my business resides?

No. However, we encourage you to work closely with your municipality to gain their support in other ways.
