Port Washington State Bank (PWSB) is pleased to announce the promotion of John Schumacher to Senior Vice President/Credit, a newly created role designed to strengthen the bank’s credit infrastructure and support continued growth in commercial lending.
John joined PWSB in 2017 and has more than a decade of experience in credit analysis and commercial lending. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, an MBA from Concordia University, and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Since joining the bank, John has been a key contributor to the commercial lending team, earning a promotion to VP/Senior Business Lender in 2024. He is widely recognized for his collaborative leadership style, strong communication skills, and unwavering commitment to sound credit practices.
In his new role as SVP/Credit, John will serve as a day-to-day credit resource and mentor to both lending and credit teams. He will play a critical role in enhancing coordination between lenders, analysts, and loan operations, while also supporting credit decision-making, portfolio monitoring, and ongoing credit risk management. Additionally, John will oversee the bank’s loan participation portfolio.
This position reflects PWSB’s commitment to supporting the continued growth of its commercial banking business while maintaining strong credit discipline. The role is particularly important as the bank expands its commercial offerings, including the recent addition of treasury management services.
“John’s deep expertise, strong leadership, and dedication to prudent credit practices make him an excellent fit for this role,” said Joel Dykstra, EVP/Chief Credit Officer. “We are confident he will help further strengthen our credit framework as we continue to grow.”
