Port Washington State Bank Awarded Mequon-Thiensville Chamber's Business of the Year

Port Washington State Bank (PWSB) is proud to announce that it has been named the Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce's Business of the Year, a prestigious recognition that reflects the bank's ongoing commitment to serving and strengthening the Mequon-Thiensville community. The award was officially presented at the Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce Awards Ceremony on October 22, where local businesses and leaders were recognized for their contributions to the community.

Since opening its Thiensville branch in 2017 and Mequon branch in 2019, PWSB has established deep roots in the community, providing personalized banking services and supporting local businesses, organizations, and residents throughout Ozaukee County and the Northern Milwaukee area.

While we're proud to support local organizations, parks, schools, events, and nonprofits, none of that happens unless people choose to bank here. The investments we make in this community are possible because this community first invests its trust in us.” said James Schowalter, President and CEO of Port Washington State Bank.

Over the years, PWSB has embraced opportunities to give back through community partnerships, sponsorships, financial education initiatives, and volunteer efforts. Receiving the Business of the Year award is a meaningful acknowledgment of the bank's dedication to helping individuals, families, and businesses thrive.

PWSB has helped bring important community projects to life throughout Mequon and Thiensville. The bank invested $65,000 in the PWSB River Stage, pledged $15,000 toward the Thiensville splash pad, and contributed $110,000 to Mequon’s All-User Playground, expanding opportunities for children of all abilities.

PWSB also supports youth sports, schools, nonprofits, and community events. Its long-standing sponsorship of PWSB Fields benefits North Shore United Soccer Club, while additional contributions support organizations such as the Mequon-Thiensville Education Foundation, Homestead High School, local service clubs, and community initiatives. In 2026, the bank expects to contribute approximately $750,000 to more than 200 organizations.

Beyond financial support, employees volunteer throughout the community, serve on local boards, and promote financial education. Through Teach Children to Save, PWSB employees reached more than 1,400 Ozaukee County students in 2026. The bank also supports local businesses and nonprofits through lending, financial expertise, partnerships, and complimentary meeting space.

As PWSB celebrates this achievement, the bank remains focused on its mission of providing exceptional service while continuing to invest in the communities it proudly serves.
