PWSB is Making a Splash in Fredonia.

In honor of its 125th anniversary year, Port Washington State Bank is investing in a number of major park projects around Ozaukee County. On May 2, PWSB unveiled its second major anniversary gift, a $25,000 donation for the creation of a splash pad which will be constructed in Marie Kraus Park. An additional $25,000 will be granted through a match campaign from PWSB to the community, for a total of up to $50,000.

James Schowalter, President and COO of Port Washington State Bank stated, “Fredonia is a vibrant community with a lot of young families, and we’re excited to give those families a gathering place to enjoy. The match campaign will hopefully ensure that we can break ground on the PWSB Splash Zone by Fall 2025 in Marie Kraus Park, but it’s up to the many local businesses and families to help us get there.”

The total estimated cost of the project is approximately $325,000, of which $100,000 has been earmarked by the Village of Fredonia, and approximately $100,000 has been covered through various in-kind donations from local contractors. The remaining cost is will be covered from private and public donations from the community at-large, and the matching program with PWSB is a great way to maximize the impact of each donation.

“At our Belgium and Fredonia branches we will have information about the project and will be accepting donations,” shared BreAnna Porth, VP/Branch Manager in Fredonia. “Donations can be made payable to the Friends of Fredonia Parks and Recreation, which is a charitable non-profit 501c3.”

“This is a pivotal investment to get this project off the ground,” said Village President Dan Gehrke. “The entire community wishes to thank Port Washington State Bank for their investment in Fredonia and for supporting this family-friendly project!”
